Eleven Walks in Coastal Maine (1996)
1. Pemaquid Point and Light (5/14)
Four gray and white streaked rocks and a few small sticks
2. Owl Point Light (5/14)
Twisted stick--a root at the top of the trail near the light
3. Morning walk at Stonington Harbor (5/15)
Two small sticks and gray weathered granite stones and pebbles. We strolled on a pier and took photographs of
old falling-down building with windows open to the sky, Magritte-like
4. Crocket Cove Wilderness Trail (5/15)
Acid washed sticks with sharp points from the Fog Forest -several are roots exposed and patinaed by wind
and rain
5. Burnt Cove Beach (5/15)
Shells, stones, and sun-bleached sticks
6. Quarry in Stonington (5/15)
Three pink granite shards from the quarry behind Ron’s Mobile Station
7. Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert Isle, Sandy Beach (5/16)
A group of sea-washed sticks and a round stone that I found. One of the sticks is long and undulating, the
others are shorter
8. South West Harbor, Mt. Desert Isle (5/16)
One very white possibly maple stick found on an evening stroll before dinner. There were many driveways
leading down to the water/harbor; one had a large, symmetrical maple on the lawn--a beautiful tree
9. Freeport (5/17)
Three half-dressed sticks from the town
10. Portsmouth (5/17)
A small stick that J. handed me after dinner at The Rosa. We walked along the waterfront and watched the
drawbridge open
